****Club Championship****
It’s finally here!!! 36 Golfers qualified for the Club Championship tournament next Sunday. The first day will be an 8:00 am shot-gun start. Each flight will be seeded according to your low-index. See format link on this page for procedure and eligibility. You must be present the first day of competition, after that if you are still contending, you may choose to contact your next opponent and play anytime during the following week that you are both available. After the first week, if you are no longer competing, stroke play and skins will be available.

President, SOMC
PS. Craig, I know I told you on Sunday that I was going to use this letter to go on and on about your “handicap” and your “net 61”. But I don’t think that would be right to go on and on about how somebody with a “low index” of 16 could fire a 77 in a tournament for a “net 61”. So instead of going on and on about your tournament score of “net 61”, I’m just going to say congratulations!

Frequently asked questions
Q: How do i establish a handicap and GHIN number?
A: Simply by joining the SOMC you will be assigned a GHIN (golf handicap index number) by the club for the season.
Q: What is an index?
A: It is a representation of your ability. EVERY time you play, post your score. Once enough scores are in the system, an index number is given. This number is based on a calculation of selected scores and the slope and course rating of the particular golf courses you played.
Q: What is the 6-Man Team Event in October?
A: This is a 2 day team competition amongst other Northern Nevada men's clubs. Each club qualifies players through their respective club events. The top six SOMC players, who meet the qualifying requirements, will represent Silver Oak Sunday Men's Club in October. The Sunday Men's Club sponsors the six qualifying members.
